One of the first metaverse examples is found in Second Life, the first metaverse case that was launched in 2003. It is a platform that allows you to have a second life, through the creation of an avatar.

decentraland

Decentraland, a project that is established through the Ethereum blockchain, whose purpose is that users can operate as they do in the physical world.

We can say that it works as a virtual reality platform, which will allow users to buy, sell, or manage a virtual property.

Two cryptocurrencies work in it, based on the Ethereum network, which are:

MANNA
LAND

MANA works as a currency of exchange, and LAND is the name given to NFTs, which represent property.

The Sandbox

And finally, we can find SANBODX, a virtual world where the user can buy and sell digital properties, and other assets, using metaverse currencies called SAND.

On this platform, the user will be able to sell, bet, and cancel their virtual plots. With The Sandbox, you will be able to use the metaverse through the philosophy of “play to win”.

In the case of Axie, this does not provide a 3D character, but it does offer similar work to the metaverse. In some countries it is used as a form of employment.

The sandbox

Another of the games that have been quite famous within this virtual world is the Sandbox; is a platform that allows users to buy or build buildings on land, and then sell them in the NFT, or Open Sea, markets.

The native cryptocurrency is SAND. Through this, the virtual economy is promoted, in aspects such as the purchase, or sale, of land and plots.

The success of these video games and the metaverse is undoubtedly the reward and financial incentives that users receive.

Horizon Worlds

Available for the United States and Canada only; Horizon Worlds is a game created by Meta. In this virtual world, players can access with virtual reality glasses, and within it they will be able to walk with their avatars, and interact with other people.

Particularly this game is far from blockchain technology, and cryptocurrencies.

The Facebook Metaverse

This futuristic proposal known as the metaverse of Facebook, proposes in the first place to change the physical world, towards a virtual world. Zuckerberg’s intention revolves around the power to teleport.

Without a doubt, the evolutions of these social connections is what has allowed the metaverse to be so successful. Day after day new technologies are created and worked on that will allow the virtual community to connect to and explore the metaverse.
